Are Schecter pickups good?
They are tappable and are super low output (well they have good output – but sound very vintage). They aren’t humcancelling and sound just like great vintage single coil pickups. It’s a pity they are only seen as ‘metal’ guitars/pickups as they are far more versatile than you’d expect.

Do pickup covers make a difference?
Yes, the covers make a huge difference in what comes out of the amplifier! If you have already taken them off, you may have noticed that the pickups sound more aggressive this way. That said, please keep in mind that real nickel covers sound more “PAF-like” than the latter chrome-plated brass covers do.
What is the point of pickup covers?
The pickup covers are used with pickups that are “open pole” (I believe that’s what they are called) meaning that, if you happen to lay the bass flat on your lap (as I have done) the poles, or the pickup, will touch the strings and make some awful noise. The cover helps prevent this from happening.
Why are pickups wax potted?
Potting is the process of soaking the pickup in melted wax, in order to saturate the components, which will isolate them and reduce movement of the coils. Because of this, potted pickups have reduced likelihood of excessive handling noise, microphonic feedback or mechanical failure.
Does pickup height affect tone?
Pickup height is a critical element of your guitar’s tone. Set too low, and your pickup is inefficient and weak. Set too high, and your pickup will cause all sorts of problems for you.
